PR: Stardots, Karolinska Institutet and Uppsala UniversityPartner to Advance Biomarker Discovery in Women’s MentalHealth Using Psilmi™

January 8th, 2026

Uppsala, Sweden – January 08, 2026 – Stardots AB today announces a research
collaboration with Karolinska Institutet and Uppsala University to investigate hormone sensitivity
in women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and ADHD. The study will leverage
Psilmi™, Stardots’ AI-driven eye-tracking platform, to identify objective digital biomarkers that
could transform diagnosis and treatment personalization in psychiatry.

The research project addresses one of the most pressing gaps in healthcare: the lack of objective tools for diagnosing hormone-sensitive psychiatric conditions in women. PMDD affects an estimated 3–8% of women of reproductive age, and ADHD impacts around 5%, yet despite this scale, research and clinical practice have long relied on subjective symptom diaries—delaying treatment and leaving many without proper care. Stardots, Karolinska Institutet and Uppsala University share a vision to change this. By uniting mathematical models and AI technology with world-class clinical expertise, we aim to unlock biomarkers that can accelerate diagnosis, personalize treatment, and dramatically improve outcomes for women’s mental health globally.

Psilmi™ records high-resolution eye-movement data — including saccades, stimulus-response latencies, and pupil dilation dynamics — which may reveal hormone-related modulation of attention, arousal, and emotional processing. But the alliance is not just about technology; it is about trying to shape the next era of psychiatric care. Through shared knowledge, ethical rigor, and cutting-edge science, the collaboration builds a foundation for breakthroughs that will resonate far beyond this initial project.

“Collaborating with Karolinska Institutet and Uppsala University is a defining moment for Stardots,” says Daniel Petrini, CEO. “Together, we are driving a shift toward objective, biology-linked diagnostics that will make women health more precise, equitable, and effective.”

Regulatory Note: Psilmi™ is currently available for research use only. Regulatory submissions and FDA 510(k) clearance followed by CE marking are planned for 2026/2027.
