PR: Stardots enters collaboration in US to explore Psilmi™ in early diagnosis and treatment optimization of autism

Uppsala, Sweden – December 8, 2025 – Stardots AB – a leading developer of software medical devices– today announces a strategic partnership with Dr. Howard Shane, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and Director Emeritus of the Center for Communication Enhancement and the Autism Language Program at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Stardots’ Psilmi technology will be evaluated in a pilot study to explore the diagnostic potential of eye-tracking for early diagnosis of autism in young children.

The collaboration will begin with a usability study lead by Dr. Shane, using Psilmi™ technology.

The study will evaluate the potential of stimuli and eye movement analysis in identifying early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in young children, from infants to five years.

Earlier research conducted at Uppsala University has demonstrated promising results using Psilmi™ in adults. In a pilot study of 178 participants—including individuals diagnosed with autism, ADHD, anxiety, or depression—distinct differences in pupillary regulation were observed.

The analysis revealed clusters of digital biomarkers capable of distinguishing between conditions with a mean classification accuracy of approximately 90%, suggesting that eye-tracking may serve as a strong foundation for objective, non-invasive biomarkers in neurological and psychiatric assessment.
